Someone told me recently that I don’t write enough about the beach even though I live on an island. Honestly, it’s true, I don’t write nearly enough about it. To be clear, I visit the beach and go to beach clubs often, but I’ve been prioritizing writing about hotels and restaurants over beach clubs. That’s all about to change because today I’m writing about one of the less-talked-about beach clubs at Mambo Beach: Mood Beach Club.

I rented a cabana at Mood Beach with a couple of friends recently and took notes. Is this the best beach club at Mambo Beach? On the island? Is the cost for a private cabana worth it? What amenities are included and nearby? How’s the beach? These are all questions I’ll be answering in this blog. Keep reading to find out if Mood Beach Club is for you!

Location

Mood Beach is located at the popular Mambo Beach about a 10-minute drive from the main area of Willemstad. This is a commercial beach area with shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels, condos, and a few beach clubs. I typically tell people that Mambo Beach is a great place if you don’t mind a touristy area and don’t plan on renting a car since the beach and shopping is right there. However, I don’t think Mambo Beach gives the best representation of the beaches and the culture of the island. Just keep that in mind!

The actual Mood Beach Club is tucked away all the way on the right side past The Kontiki hotel and Cabana Beach. Out of all the beach clubs at Mambo Beach, this one feels the most isolated and exclusive. Past Mood Beach reaches into Sunscape Resort’s territory which is pretty quiet.

Parking

Mambo Beach has a large free parking lot. The lot is usually crowded but we’ve always been able to find parking. I’ve never personally encountered a car break-in or any crime at Mambo Beach, but I’ve read news articles and spoken to friends who caution about potential petty crime there. A few years ago, the US Consulate in Curacao advised US citizens to be careful at Mambo Beach due to increased break-ins and robberies. It sounds a lot worse than it is, and I haven’t been deterred from going there but I’m extra cautious just in case.

About Mood Beach Club

Mood Beach is considered part of the Kontiki Beach Resort which is directly on Mambo Beach. However, they’re not part of the Mambo Beach BLVD brand so you won’t see Mood Beach advertised on the Mambo Beach website. Don’t let that confuse you, though! Mood Beach is at Mambo.

Mood Beach is a full service beach club. There are beach beds, two restaurants including a bar, bathrooms, food and drink service, and even a massage gazebo. No water sports here, but there is a dive shop elsewhere on Mambo Beach Blvd. Mood Beach is meant to be Kontiki’s upscale beach club compared to Cabana Beach and Wet n’ Wild. Did it feel upscale? I’d say yes, but not significantly. There were less people there during my visit so it felt more exclusive and service was better.

Reservations + Opening Hours

Beach bed reservations can be easily made online through their website. Reservations start at 10:45 AM, but the beach opens at 9:00 AM. Confusing, right? I Whatsapp’d them to double check, and yes, even though you sign up for a 10:45 AM cabana slot you can come right at 9:00 AM.

Officially, the cabanas and beach service are available until 6 PM, but you can typically stay while the sun sets.

Vibe

The vibe is supposed to be like a boho chic barefoot beach club. It kind of felt like that during my visit, but I went on an off day. The local radio station was filming a segment for part of the morning so there wasn’t any music in the morning. Additionally, there were only two other groups at the beach club while we were there. It didn’t give “exclusive” as much as it gave “ghost town” while the next door Cabana Beach Club was packed. To be fair, though, guests of Kontiki Hotel get free beach beds at Cabana and that’s usually why it’s more busy.

Edit: I went again to Mood Beach today (August 2026) and there were more people enjoying the beach club. I really think the first time I went there was an off day. Today, there was R&B music playing, beds taken by friends and families, and service was on point.

Beach

The beach here is on the smaller side. There is a sandy area where the cabanas are and then a steep drop off into the ocean. To get into the water, there are stairs built into the edge near the Mood Marina restaurant. The beach club also faces the marina where BlueFinn Charters picks up for a few of their tours, so the swimming area is partially secluded by the dock.

On the beach is a massage booth for Kurpa Massage. It’s not a full spa, but just a place to get a massage. I saw a few people go in for treatment during my beach day. The massage room is on a higher floor so there are sea views and a nice breeze up there.

Cabana Types

There are three different beach bed categories at Mood Beach. Guests can reserve a cabana, family beds, or a VIP deck cabana. The cabanas are nicely spread out, so it will never feel crowded. There are also cabanas that are surrounded by privacy hedges in the shade.

The regular cabana is the standard beach bed with a shaded wood structure. It comes with a side table, terry cloth beach bed cover, towels, a fruit platter, a bottle of water, and entrance for 2 people. The family beach beds are covered by an umbrella and includes entrance for up to 4 people, and double the towels, fruit, and water.

The VIP Deck has the best location at Mood Beach. There are two beach beds on the VIP deck located right at the front of the beach on a deck over the water. The VIP deck has dedicated stairs to enter the water and a small bistro table set up. Otherwise, the beach beds are exactly the same as the others and the inclusions are the same as the family cabanas.

Pricing

There is a little bit of a discrepancy with the website and booking platform pricing as they list slightly different pricing and inclusions. In my experience, the pricing and inclusions on the booking platform were the most accurate so that’s what I’m going off of. As of writing this, here is the pricing for the three categories of cabanas at Mood Beach:

• Regular Cabana: $65 USD for 2 people including towels, fruit plate, and a bottle of water.
• Family Beach Beds: $108 USD for 4 people including 4 towels, 2 fruit plates, and 2 bottles of water.
• VIP Deck Cabana: $172 USD for 4 people including 4 towels, 2 fruit plates, and 2 bottles of water at the front of the beach club.

Mood Beach is one of the more expensive beach clubs at Mambo, but I find the value to be worth it considering the beds aren’t pushed so close together. You can find $5 beach chair rentals elsewhere at Mambo, but again, it’ll be crowded. We paid for the reservation with a credit card machine at the end of our beach day, so prepayment wasn’t necessary. Note that they don’t accept cash, so bring your cards with you!

Mood Restaurants

There are two restaurants at Mood Beach: Mood Restaurant and the Mood Marina. Mood Restaurant is the more traditional restaurant away from the ocean serving international cuisine with a seafood focus.

Mood Marina serves classic beachside options like sandwiches, burgers, and salads as well as sushi. Their restaurant is set on the marina by the ocean. I’ve only dined at Mood Marina before and their sushi was decent. The ambiance was lovely, especially during sunset. You can order food from Mood Marina directly to your cabana, but we opted not to this time.

I should note, Mood Beach throws a popular brunch party called “BrunchUP” every Saturday. Think dancers, bottle service, twirling napkins, singing, dancing, and fun shenanigans that you’d find at a beach club in Europe. Reservations are required and pre-payment includes a 4-course menu which is usually sushi.

Kat’s Final Thoughts

Overall, I find that Mood Beach is one of the nicer beach clubs at Mambo Beach. Is it my favorite beach club on the island? Not really, but I think it would be great for people who are looking for a less crowded understated beach club experience at Mambo Beach.

There are so many other beaches on the island, and I always recommend venturing out and exploring the over 30+ beaches the island has to offer. If you have to be at Mambo Beach and want to splurge on a nicer beach club, then Mood Beach would be my pick.
