In August of this year, I was in Amsterdam for work – my first time visiting the city as an adult. I was struck by how clean, organized, and quiet the city was. It was so charming! From the cobblestone streets, to the large green parks with people relaxing, and folks on bikes chatting and enjoying the weather, it was lovely.
I decided to arrange a private canal cruise to really get to see the city. The saloon boat I ended up getting on was named Farahilde, the captain explaining the meaning of the name being “traveling female warrior“, and the name just stuck with me.

For weeks, the name rolled around in my mind. Farahilde is who and what I aspire to be. I’d played with the idea of starting a blog for a few years as I’ve wanted to share my unique travel experiences. Thus, Farahilde was born.
The purpose of this blog is to share my travel experiences around the world from the perspective of someone working in the travel industry.
Often times, travel bloggers who write about their experiences end up working in the travel industry, creating their own travel planning company, etc. My experience is the opposite – I’ve been working in the industry for over 8 years and I’d love to share some of the tips, tricks, experiences, and reviews I’ve picked up along the way.
“…there is no such thing as a bad hotel, just a bad match.”
– Kat
I’m a firm believer that there is no such thing as a bad hotel, just a bad match. Every hotel has its own personality, and it’s important to understand both the hotel and the client’s needs to make a perfect match.
You’ll find in my blog my recommendations for the type of clients or guests who should stay at certain properties. You’ll also find some tips I’ve picked up along the way about easier and cheaper travel. If you’re considering a career in travel, you’ll want to tune in as I’ll be sharing some of the best perks of working in travel!
I’m looking forward to inspiring readers to travel more. 🙂
