I flew to Miami in June to attend the infamous fun-fueled travel conference LE Miami. Held at the Miami Convention Center each year, you can expect sun, palm trees, and some of the industry’s best vendors and travel advisors to be in attendance.
While in Miami, I seized the opportunity to visit the Miami Beach EDITION where I was privileged enough to explore the property, and tour a few rooms.
As one of Marriott’s worldwide luxury portfolio properties, the Miami EDITION shares and wears well the trademark contemporary minimalism design we’ve all come to expect from the brand.

Location
Located on Collins Avenue in South Beach, the EDITION is great for guests who want to be both in front of the beach and nearby the trendy clubs and restaurants in the area.
There’s more to this EDITION than the location – if you’re not one for clubs or the beach, there is a rich history to the hotel building itself.
For those who appreciate art history, or the ‘art deco’ aesthetic, the building where the EDITION took over was formerly the Seville Hotel built in 1955. While there was a full scale renovation when Marriott took over, the building facade is protected sealing the charm of the former Seville Hotel for years to come.

Walking into the lobby, I was immediately taken back by how much of the original lobby was kept. The entire room was seemingly covered in white marble. Gorgeous mammoth-sized pillars of marble dotted the lobby, and even the front desk in the center of the room was full marble. It felt like a luxurious art deco palace!
The front desk was due north of the entrance, and to the left the lobby opened up into a large sitting area with a glamorous gold bar. Behind the bar, where delicious smells and vibrant conversations were coming from, sat the day time eatery Market. Right of the front desk was a smaller sitting area and a marble encased billiards table before the entrance of the trendy Matador Room restaurant.

Rooms
There are two buildings on property: the main building and the bungalows. While both buildings offer the same design and aesthetic in the rooms, there are a few major differences. The main building offers city facing views, and rooms with ocean facing views. Most categories in the main building also do not have a balcony by design. Meanwhile, the two-story bungalow building features rooms that all face the pool or ocean and include a balcony.
I was fortunate enough to have the chance to see a few room categories: City View Room, Ocean View Room, and the Bungalow Loft Suite. The City and Ocean View Rooms in the main building were spacious, and felt clean, modern, and chic. They really followed through with the minimalism concept as there was no clutter, no meaningless paintings on the wall, and all empty space felt intentional. The Bungalow Loft Suite was luxurious – it felt like being in your own little cove especially since the building was smaller.

One thing I will say about the rooms – they are in need of a renovation. It’s extremely ambitious to keep white rooms in pristine condition, and the wear and tear on the rooms are evident. I’ve heard there are plans in the future for the rooms to be updated, and until then I would keep that in mind.
Amenities
I love the amenities at the Miami Beach EDITION, especially for families. In addition to two pools and a beach club, they also offer a bowling alley and ice skating rink on the lower level of the lobby. There is no kids club, but there are plenty of activities to keep kids busy.

The spa at the EDITION is also on the lower level, and it delivers. The mood lighting, the ambient music, the tea station, and soft lounge chairs in the common area make for a truly relaxing experience.
I scheduled an appointment for a deep tissue massage followed by a mani/pedi. The women’s spa area was stocked with amenities, though there were used towels and sandals discarded on the floor when I entered. I thought the massage was fine, though I was put off by the therapist trying to upsell me on additional treatments before the massage started. I’ve never experienced that before – maybe that’s a Miami thing?

Overall, the Miami Beach EDITION is a staple luxury option when considering travel in Miami. The rooms are luxuriously appointed, the service level is great, there are plenty of amenities offered, and the room rates are pretty reasonable in comparison to other luxury properties in South Beach.
